Standard on Governance and MS Requirements for Human Services Organisations issued for Public Comment
Thursday, April 04, 2013
As one of Australia’s private and independent standard developers, National Standards issued for public comment, a Standard on the governance and management system requirements for Human Services organisations.
This standard was initiated in late 2011 as a result of a request from organisations and stakeholder groups for the definition of minimum certification requirements.
This National Standard provides a model and framework for the certification of organisations providing human services, as a tool to demonstrate compliance.
Compliance with the standard shall complement compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, circulars or other regulator or funding provider requirements.
The standard is designed to apply to small or large, not for profit, private or public sector organisations involved in the delivery of human services.
“This is a big step forward for the Human Services sector as there are a number of new schemes, and Standards around Australia which are not equivalent to each other and require different audits, auditors and requirements. It is our hope that this document will provide a framework that can be used to complement legal and regulatory requirements” commented Herve Michoux, CEO, National Standards.
The public comment phase is open until the 30th June 2013 and we will welcome comments and input. The documents are available for download, www.nsdo.org.au/draftdocuments.aspx
